For Immediate Release
20 October 2025

The Vocational Mental Health Practitioners Association of Australia (VMHPAA) extends warm greetings to everyone celebrating Diwali / Deepavali across Australia and around the world including Hindu, Sikh, Jain, and diaspora communities.
The Festival of Lights is a time to gather with loved ones, light diyas, share sweets, and reflect on the triumph of light over darkness, hope over fear, and community over isolation.
“From our VMHPAA community to yours may the lights of Diwali bring peace, connection, and renewed hope,” said Shane Warren, Chair of VMHPAA. “For those far from home or missing someone special, we hope you still feel the warmth of community and the comfort of care. May this season be gentle and bright.”
VMHPAA recognises the rich contributions of South Asian communities to our neighbourhoods, workplaces, and schools, and reaffirms our commitment to culturally safe, accessible mental health support in every community.
If this season is difficult or you need to talk, support is available. Remember, reaching out is a sign of strength.
