The Australian Association of Mental Health Practitioners (AAMHP), previously known as the Vocational Mental Health Practitioners Association of Australia (VMHPAA), was founded with a clear vision: to uplift, unify, and champion vocationally trained mental health professionals across the nation.
Since then, we have grown, and we are pleased to advise that we are the ONLY mental health practitioner association of its kind in Australia! AAMHP is a non-profit, Incorporated Association, registered with Consumer Affairs Victoria. AAMHP exists to honour, support and advocate for the vital role vocational and tertiary mental health trained practitioners who work stringently, dedicated and efficiently supporting the mental health and wellbeing of our communities throughout Australia. AAMHP recognises practitioners holding vocational and/or tertiary mental health qualifications

Why We Exist
VMHPAA (now known as AAMHP) was created to fill a long-overdue gap in the professional landscape. Vocational mental health practitioners are often at the frontline of care, yet until now, lacked a dedicated voice to advocate for their professional standards, ongoing development, and recognition.
We are here to change that and grow an association that recognises both vocational and tertiary qualified practitioners and the valuable role they play in providing support to Australians across the country.
Our Vision
Our Vision is is to create a united, inclusive, and empowered community of vocational and tertiary mental health professionals who are equipped, recognised, and respected for the vital role they play.
We believe that great care starts with great practitioners - and great practitioners deserve recognition, support, and a registered peak professional association body that understands their needs.
