AWARENESS STATEMENT
For Immediate Release
6 October 2025

The Vocational Mental Health Practitioners Association of Australia (VMHPAA) extends warm greetings to everyone celebrating Chuseok (추석) - Korea’s harvest moon festival - and to Korean diaspora communities across Australia and the world.
Chuseok is a time for family gatherings, honouring ancestors, sharing food, and expressing gratitude. It’s also a reminder to pause, reconnect, and care for our wellbeing and each other.
“From our VMHPAA community to yours - 행복한 한가위 보내세요 (wishing you a joyful Hangawi),” said Shane Warren, Chair of VMHPAA. “As families come together under the harvest moon, may this season bring rest, gratitude, and a renewed sense of belonging. For those far from home, we hope you still feel the warmth of community and the comfort of connection.”
VMHPAA acknowledges the rich contribution of Korean Australians to our neighbourhoods, workplaces, schools, and health services, and reaffirms our commitment to culturally safe, accessible mental health support in every community.
If the season is difficult or you need to talk, support is available. Remember reaching out is a sign of strength.
