Peer-to-peer encouragement for AAMHP members
Moving from Lateral Violence to Lateral Kindness: Power With, Not Power Over brings internationally recognised coach, supervisor and educator Lily Seto to Sydney for a practical and reflective exploration of the relational dynamics that can quietly damage teams, workplaces and professional communities.
For AAMHP members, this workshop gives useful language to something many practitioners, supervisors and leaders will have encountered: harm does not always move from the top down. It can travel sideways through exclusion, gossip, silence, undermining, avoidance, resentment and small repeated behaviours that gradually erode trust and belonging.
The concept of lateral kindness offers a different response. Rather than simply identifying poor behaviour, the workshop explores how we move from “power over” to “power with” strengthening dignity, accountability, connection and the capacity to repair relationships when harm has occurred.
