Peer-to-peer encouragement for VMHPAA members


Thirrili’s Healing-Centred Approaches to Suicide Prevention and Postvention webinar brings together leading First Nations experts to explore how culturally safe, community-led approaches can strengthen support for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander individuals, families and communities affected by suicide.


For VMHPAA members, this is an important opportunity to deepen understanding of postvention as part of suicide prevention. Supporting people after a suicide loss requires more than general grief knowledge. Culture, family, community, connection, identity and social and emotional wellbeing all matter, and practitioners need to understand how these dimensions shape both distress and healing.


The session will explore the role of culturally safe support following suicide loss and how connection, culture and community can contribute to longer-term healing.
