Peer-to-peer encouragement for VMHPAA members


The Australian Counselling Association (ACA) is presenting its 2026 Identity Symposium on Thursday 28 May 2026in Melbourne and online, with the Annual Counselling Excellence Awards held afterward in person at the Pullman Albert Park Melbourne. The symposium theme is Identity, with the program focused on how identity is shaped, disrupted, and reconstructed across contemporary counselling practice. 


For VMHPAA members, this event is useful because identity sits underneath many of the issues practitioners are already working with every day. The program will examine practice areas including pregnancy loss and parenting, domestic and family violence, eating disorders and body image, disability, and isolation, and the day is an evidence-informed professional development opportunity designed to strengthen ethical practice and therapeutic outcomes.
