Peer-to-peer encouragement for VMHPAA members
The AAPi National Conference 2026 will be held from 19–21 October 2026 at the InterContinental Sanctuary Cove Resort on the Gold Coast, bringing together psychologists, researchers and practitioners for three days of professional learning, practical workshops and peer connection.
For VMHPAA members, the breadth of the program is what makes this conference particularly useful. Sessions move across many of the issues that increasingly sit within contemporary counselling and mental health practice, including cultural safety, neurodiversity-affirming practice, trauma and dissociation, women’s mental health, children and separated families, sexual health, chronic pain, ethical practice, workers compensation, and the growing influence of artificial intelligence on both practitioners and clients.
There are also important conversations about where psychological and helping practice is heading. Sessions examine decolonising practice, psychedelic-assisted therapy, coercive control, the manosphere and sexual objectification, retirement and psychological wellbeing, social health, and ethical decision-making in private practice.
