About the event

Peer-to-peer encouragement for VMHPAA members

Mental Health Academy’s 2026 Suicide Prevention Summit brings together 20 international experts for five days of practical, evidence-informed learning focused on identifying, understanding, and responding to suicide risk.

For VMHPAA members, this is an important opportunity to strengthen knowledge across a wide range of practice settings. The program covers suicide prevention with children and young people, neurodivergent clients, veterans, and men, alongside emotional regulation, brief cognitive behavioural approaches, ethics, duty of care, identity, and current suicidology research.

The inclusion of emerging issues, such as artificial intelligence chatbots and suicide risk, also makes this a valuable update for practitioners working in an increasingly complex digital environment.

With live presentations, Q&A opportunities, up to 20 hours of professional learning, and certificates for eligible sessions, the summit provides accessible and highly relevant professional development for counsellors, psychotherapists, peer workers, community practitioners, supervisors, and others supporting people experiencing distress…
