TAFE and RTO Educators
Empowering Practitioners, Transforming Lives

Collaborating to Grow a Stronger Mental Health Workforce
At the Vocational Mental Health Practitioners Association of Australia (VMHPAA), we believe that TAFE's and RTO's are committed to developing great students who will become great mental health practitioners, and that starts with accredited qualifications.
To help our members be the best practitioners they can be, we proudly collaborate with education providers, registered training organisations, and TAFE's who share our commitment to excellence.
As RTOs and TAFEs are registered with government authorities to deliver accredited training and issue nationally recognised qualifications, we acknowledge that you provide:
-
Accredited Training: TAFEs and RTOs are authorised to provide nationally recognised vocational education and training (VET) courses, including certificates, diplomas, and advanced diplomas.
-
Compliance: TAFE and RTO institutions must meet quality standards and compliance requirements to maintain their registration.
VMHPAA’s position is that where an RTO delivers a government-recognised course that meets the relevant AQF and regulatory requirements in vocational education for counselling or mental health practice, we do not need to impose an additional fee-based “course approval” layer in order for graduates to meet our membership training standard.
We have long held the view that there is little value in reinventing a process that is already subject to formal government oversight, audit, and quality assurance. If a course continues to meet the recognised national standards required of it, then its graduates should not be disadvantaged by unnecessary extra gatekeeping
Together, we can empower the next generation of future vocational mental health practitioners to deliver outstanding care - through learning, collaboration, and continuous growth.
Register your TAFE or RTO with VMHPAA and shape the future of mental health support.
