VMHPAA Celebrates Board Member Martin Taylor’s Election as Mayor of Whittlesea
The Vocational Mental Health Practitioners Association Australia (VMHPAA) is proud to announce and celebrate that our esteemed Public Officer and General Counsel, Martin Taylor, has been elected as the Mayor of the City of Whittlesea.
Martin’s appointment reflects the very values that he has consistently brought to VMHPAA: integrity, inclusiveness, vision, and unwavering dedication to community wellbeing. As he now steps into civic leadership in one of Australia’s fastest-growing and most diverse municipalities, the Board commends his transition into this vital role with full support and admiration.
“Martin’s leadership style is grounded in compassion and clear purpose,” said Shane Warren, Chair of VMHPAA. “His commitment to ethical governance and grassroots inclusion makes him exactly the kind of mayor communities need, especially in times of growth and transformation. I have no doubt that Whittlesea will thrive under his steady, community-first approach.”
Martin brings to the mayoral role the same humility, integrity, and unwavering commitment to public service that have defined his leadership at VMHPAA and throughout his distinguished career in the legal and health sector.
“Martin always brings change wherever he puts himself,” said Susan Sandy, VMHPAA Secretary and a relationship counsellor with over 25 years of experience. “He listens deeply, acts with conviction, and champions those who often feel unheard. I’m truly excited to see the changes he will bring to the Whittlesea community.”
Martin will continue his strategic advisory role at VMHPAA, ensuring alignment between professional mental health practice and broader public policy frameworks that affect communities on the ground.
